MUSE INDIA- Special Feature on Contemporary Indian English Novel
Issue 123 (Sept-Oct 2025)
Curated by: Dr Sapna Dogra
Last date of Submission: 15 July 2025
Indian English Novel has certainly carved a new trail and attained an impressive stature among the literatures of the world. The post-Salman Rushdie era brought in immense critical acclaim to the Indian English Novel. The zeal with which the creative output in this area quadrupled testifies that Indians were eager, hopeful and certain that they could write, and their works would be read in and outside India, even though the ‘Indianness’ of Indian English fiction would almost always be debated and contested.
The feature aims to look at the latest trends in Indian English Novels concerning themes of language, technology-based lingo, changing gender roles, sexuality (ies), urban spaces, nation, culture, politics, representation of Indian society, morality, narrative techniques, etc.
