The New India Foundation invites applications for the third round of the prestigious New India Foundation Translation Fellowship, supporting scholarships around Independent India and providing a wider audience for Indian-language texts. These Fellowships will be awarded across 10 languages for the translation of non-fiction texts published from 1850 onwards.

About the Fellowships

With a grant of 6 lakhs for each Fellow, the New India Foundation Translation Fellowships are amongst the most distinguished Fellowships in the country.
Applications close on 31st December, 2025
Languages | Assamese, Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil and Urdu.

Round 3 of the New India Foundation’s Translation Fellowships, aimed at bringing knowledge texts from Indian languages to English. In pursuit of fulfilling the NIF’s objective to foster scholarship around Independent India and to provide a wider audience for Indian-language texts.
