Article Submission Guidelines
1. Aim and Scope:
- The Journal of West Asian Studies is dedicated to disseminating scholarly research on West Asian and North African studies.
- We welcome submissions from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to history, political science, sociology, economics, and cultural studies.
2. Manuscript Preparation Language:
- All submissions must be in English, adhering to the highest academic writing and grammar standards.
- Word Limit: Research articles should be approximately 6,000 words long (or within a range of 5,000-8,000 words).
- Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format, using 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Abstract and Keywords: Each submission must include an abstract of no more than 250 words and 4-6 keywords.
3. Citation Style APA 7th Edition:
- The Journal of West Asian Studies follows the APA 7th edition citation style.
- In-text Citations: Ensure in-text citations follow the (Author, Year) format.
- Include the page number (Author, Year, p. Page Number) for direct quotes.
- Reference List: Compile a reference list at the end of the manuscript, alphabetized by the authors' last names.
4. Submission Process
- Manuscripts should be submitted as Word documents via email to the editorial desk at editordeskjwas@gmail.com.
- Each manuscript must be accompanied by a cover letter, which includes a brief author biography and a statement confirming that the work is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
5. Peer Review Process
- All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process.
- Authors' identities will be concealed from reviewers and vice versa.
- Authors can expect initial feedback within 4-6 weeks of submission.
6. Publication Ethics
- Authors must adhere to ethical standards regarding plagiarism, data falsification, and multiple submissions.
- Conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the time of submission.
7. Copyright and Licensing
- Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to sign a copyright transfer agreement.
- The journal allows authors to retain certain rights under a specific licensing agreement.
8. Post-Acceptance
- Accepted manuscripts may undergo copyediting for clarity, grammar, and journal style.
- Authors will have an opportunity to review and approve the final version before publication.
