Objectives of the FDP

The objectives focus on exploring emerging trends and technologies in Library and Information Science (LIS), enhancing skills in digital resource management, metadata creation, and open access publishing. Also emphasize strategies for effective information literacy programs in academic institutions and the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into LIS practices, curricula, and research. Additionally, promote collaboration to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

By equipping participants with cutting-edge knowledge and skills, the program will contribute to the advancement of library services and academic research support. This FDP emphasizes a balanced fusion of India's traditional wisdom and modern practices in Library and Information Science to create a sustainable and inclusive knowledge society. 

The course will be conducted in Hybrid Mode and would include lectures, class discussions, project work, seminars, assignments and presentations by the participants. They will be evaluated at the end of the programme.

Who Can Apply:

Faculties of Library & Information Science and Librarians (including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Librarians, Deputy Librarians, Assistant Librarians) working in universities and colleges that are included under Section 2(f) of UGC Act. The Teacher and Librarian of Colleges that do not come within the purview of section 2(f), but have been affiliated to a university for at least one year and six months will be permitted to participate in the Course. Certificate will be issued to those who have attended all the sessions and have qualified the evaluation test.
