About World Emoji Day

It's celebrated every year on July 17.

• Origin: The date was chosen by Jeremy Burge, founder of Emojipedia, in 2014 because July 17 is displayed on the calendar emoji on Apple devices, referencing the debut of Apple's iCal in 2002. 
• Purpose: The day aims to recognize and celebrate the important role emojis play in our daily digital interactions, enhancing expression and communication across cultures and languages. 
• Significance: Emojis are more than just digital symbols; they are a form of non-verbal communication that adds emotion, nuance, and personality to our messages. World Emoji Day highlights this impact and promotes a deeper understanding of these icons. 
• Celebration: People celebrate World Emoji Day in various ways, such as posting their favorite emojis on social media using the hashtag #WorldEmojiDay, creating emoji-themed content, learning about the meaning of lesser-known emojis, or even throwing emoji-themed parties.
